Malwatte Prelate again expresses grave concern over lawlessness in country
The most Ven. Thibbotuwave Sumangala Thero , the chief incumbent of the Malwatte Chapter expressed grave concern over the prevailing lawless climate in the country citing the unchecked violations of the law in the country and the polls violence which are mounting fiercely with nobody including the Govt. and the Authorities paying heed ,despite having knowledge of the disaster the country is fast heading on account of the neglect of the duty to maintain laws and observance of the rule of law.
The Chief Prelate made these comments when Deputy leader of the UNP , Karu Jyasooriya met him yesterday (3) at the Malwatte Temple.
The basic civic needs of the people are not fulfilled , people’s suffering are ever growing , there are no proper roads , Health services have broken down , even the people’s right to exercise their franchise in a fair and free election have been deprived , election violence is continuing unabated, the Prelate observed.
Politicians have got accustomed only to making grandiose promises before elections . After elections nothing is translated into action. The poor people too have got accustomed to bearing all the hardships and silently grinning, for they have no other choice because their right to oppose is also eroded , he regretted.
